Journal: morning with the sound of rain
Sep. 15th, 2017 05:52 amI went to bed at eight last night and woke up at four thirty. I'm working on some tea now, and thinking about meal planning. I have time before work to swim, and I want to write today. (I am doing that right now, but I mean for a project.)
My friend Sky's been talking about sitting with emotions and I've been trying to copy that a bit. I don't know if it's doing anything. Maybe eventually.
I want to write short stories but I'm a little stuck about how to make them less... more... to have more things happen. My usual format is loose, not dense, meandering through a lot of dialogue. Easy to write, easy to read, but not easily condensed. I should write more fairy tale type stuff - and the prince went here and talked to this guy and then did that and then did this.
Home from China about a week now, mostly over the jet lag, not over the cold I caught somewhere at some airport, mostly over the nasty neck strain, back to swimming, back to work, not quite back to talking to friends but that's at least in part because they've been busy. Plans for the weekend involve a wilderness walk, second hand shopping, not brooding about my brother (hah, if only), gardening, writing, and... contemplating my career. Hn.
Maybe there's still time to sign up for a fall class. I'll check.
