I went and watched an aikido class on Sunday in Manhattan. It was up a narrow stair, and I sat on a deep two-seater couch and watched the students. There were white men and black men, asian men and women. The class was fast-paced and without explanation, and there were about thirty students. It was intimidating and I was glad my own dojo was smaller and more personal. The other interesting thing was that people didn't switch partners the way they do at my dojo.
Yesterday I saw Black Panther, which is a wonderful movie and everyone should go see it. I couldn't predict how it would go, which was nice, and the costuming and music were magical. I want to hang out and discuss it approximately forever. Great representations of women, and... spoilers. Spoilers spoilers. Spoilers!
My drive home from 10-11 PM was foggy, and I saw both a deer crossing the road and a multi-car crackup. Not restful. I got home and to sleep in good order, at least.
I'm tense this morning. Working on it.
